Consulting and Content-Creation

IMG_4864.jpeg

Whole South Heritage Works provides consulting services that help communities document, interpret, and share their cultural heritage.

We work with cultural and governmental entities, tourism organizations, universities, businesses, and individuals to produce engaging, authentic, and historically grounded content for the public; oral history and cultural documentation projects; and heritage research of all kinds.

WSHW’s staff has extensive experience in developing large-scale and more targeted documentation initiatives, drawing on folklife fieldwork, oral history, and stakeholder coalition-building; as well as working with tourism agencies and heritage initiatives such as the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area, Visit Myrtle Beach, and the African American Music Trail of Eastern North Carolina – creating heritage-based website content, podcast scripts, driving tours, and historical marker text, as well as asset mapping and discovery research.

Our work is grounded in community engagement, deep research, and long experience presenting diverse Southern cultural heritage for all audiences. The values that guide our community-based work and documentation are listening, respect, inclusion, and authenticity.

Contact us to discuss how we might work with you to create:

  • Cultural Documentation Projects

Cultural asset mapping, oral history, and identification and documentation of artists, traditions, and

          places of interest.

  • Heritage-Based Stories and Articles

Research-based historical and cultural writing for tourism websites, visitor guides, and marketing

campaigns. We produce historically accurate content, written in a clear, engaging style for visitors and

          general audiences.

  • Cultural Heritage Itineraries

Curated guides and travel itineraries, highlighting historic sites, traditions, and local

           culture.

  • Traditional Culture Profiles

Stories about local musicians, craftspeople, cuisine, and traditions.

  • Historical Research for Public Projects

Background research for heritage trails, interpretive signage, and tourism campaigns.

  • Museum & Historic Site Interpretation

Research and storytelling for exhibits, historic sites, and tours.

We can provide full Spanish versions of all content upon request.

If you’re planning a project that doesn’t fit into one of these categories, we’d love to hear about it!  Because every community is unique, the services we offer are individually tailored to our partners' and clients’ brands and content needs.
